TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—Quilters gathered at the Tippecanoe County Library to make quilts for kids.
Quilts For Kids is a national organization that caters to kids who are sick or in need. The Greater Lafayette chapter has been established for three years.
The group donates about 100 blankets to local places such as the YMCA and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. All of the money used to purchase the fabric is fund raised. It cost over $2,000 a year to purchase the fabric needed to quilt blankets.
This year in order to raise money the group is giving families the opportunity to take home a hand made quilt.
Group leader Barbara Tourney said so many kids lives are impacted.
"To bring them some comfort if they are sick or discouraged. That's our hope for what we do," said Tourney.
