CLEVELAND, Ohio (WLFI) — Purdue linebacker Derrick Barnes will join up with former Purdue quarterback David Blough on the Detroit Lions, after being selected with the 113th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
"I'm very excited to be in this position and especially to be a Lion," said Barnes.
Barnes expressed his loyalty to Purdue after four seasons at his draft party Saturday night.
"Purdue is one of those those schools that will do anything in their power to get you where you need to be," shared the new Lions linebacker. "I'm going to go to Detroit and give it my all and make everybody here in West Lafayette happy."

Barnes is the second Purdue football player chosen in this year's draft, after Rondale Moore was taken 49th overall on Friday night.
Purdue football alumni Grant Hermanns and Tyler Coyle both signed undrafted free agent deals with NFL teams. Hermanns signed with the New York Jets, and Coyle signed with the Cowboys.
