OMAHA, Neb. (WLFI) — Caitlyn Newton recorded 18 kills in Purdue volleyball's 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-19) shutout of High Point on Thursday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
High Point led 24-18 in the first set, before Purdue went on an 8-0 run to close out the first frame, 26-24.
The Gold & Black led for the entirety of the second set, leading by as many at 10. Caitlyn Newton ended the set with a kill to claim a 25-18 win.
High Point tried to rally in the third set, but ultimately could not pull off a comeback.
Haley Bush added 40 assists in the victory.
The Boilermakers (15-6) will face 10th seeded Oregon (15-4) in the Sweet 16 on Sunday.
