WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue will soon be home to a new multi-million dollar supercomputer.
The supercomputer, named Anvil, is being funded by a $10 million award from the National Science Foundation.
Anvil will increase the foundation's Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment.
The environment allows scientists to share resources, data and expertise.
Purdue has been a partner in the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment for the last nine years.
According to Senior Research Scientist Carol Song, production on Anvil will begin around October, and will be functional next summer.
It will be built inside Purdue's Mathematical Sciences Building.
