WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Purdue junior Aaron Lai has begun his 100 mile walk from West Lafayette to Bloomington for Tyler Trent's fund. Lai left the Delta Chi house at 7 a.m. and will travel more than 11 hours to his first stop.

As of Sunday morning, Lai's GoFundMe account had $6,400 of his $10,000 goal raised.

Lai expects to arrive at Assembly Hall Tuesday afternoon for the Purdue vs. Indiana basketball game. He will make overnight stops in New Market and Cloverdale before his final stretch Tuesday.

Lai didn't know Tyler, but said his story reminded him of his grandfather, who had lung cancer.

News 18 will be following Lai throughout his two and a half day journey. You can watch the special report Tuesday on News 18 at 6 p.m.
