WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — More than 60 scientists and professors are offering families help during the coronavirus pandemic.
Purdue professor Shelley MacDermid Wadsworth lent a hand in the 10-week initiative called 'Families Tackling Tough Times Together.'
It's meant to diminish stress levels and increase positivity.
Every week there are new ideas and resources for parents, kids, and young adults to keep their minds stimulated.
MacDermid Wadsorth said this is a great teachable moment for families spending time together.
"It seemed to me it would make a lot of sense to try to help families build on their strengths during this time," said MacDermid Wadsworth. "Grow their resiliency while they cope with the pandemic."
She added the unknown with this pandemic is causing people a lot of stress.
"Families are very resilient and for many families stress levels may come down once life gets sort of back to normal, but there is a lot we have yet to learn," said MacDermid Wadsworth.
