WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Purdue University wants to encourage more students to get vaccinated before the next school year, so it's offering a big incentive get the COVID-19 shot.
The university says 10 students will be randomly selected for what it's calling the "Old Gold-en Ticket" — nearly $10,000, enough to cover one year of in-state tuition.
But students must show their proof of full vaccination by July 15 on the Protect Purdue website.
Mallory Benoit, a senior at Purdue, might put her name in the hat. She hopes more people think about getting the shot.
"Hopefully, people on Purdue's campus are just smart and want to do the right thing so that way we can just feel comfortable in the fall ... I mean I'd love to go to a football game during my senior year, so I feel like if you can, you should get it," she says.
The winners will be announced July 29. Purdue says undergraduate, graduate and professional students are eligible.
