WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — In a video message to the Purdue community, Purdue President Mitch Daniels announced it would be "irresponsible" to go through with the three-percent raises during these "uncertain times."
"The more careful we are now, the less severe the measures we will have to take later if things do not recover the way we hope they will, so, things we've already put in place, restrictions on travel and purchasing and hiring are going to continue into the next fiscal year," said Daniels. "And I'll tell you right now that the pay raises that we intended to make starting in July will have to be postponed indefinitely."
Daniels says he does not expect staff cuts between now and the end of the fiscal year on June 30th.
