WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) Purdue University is not letting the pandemic hinder their holiday spirit.
Although there won't be a Christmas tree inside the Purdue Memorial Union, people can still enjoy some festive lights outside.
Purdue alum and owner of Window Genie in Lafayette, Jim Heath, set up the display this year.
You can check out the lights from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. at Academy Park.
Assistant Director of Programs with the Purdue Memorial Union, Chelsea Harris, told News 18 it's her team's mission to spread Holiday cheer.
"We're trying to make those meaningful experiences for people," Harris told News 18. "That's part of our mission, to be there for the community."
Harris also told News 18 there will be other activities planned to fill the void of the Christmas tree, including special guest book readings.
"Different Purdue faces will be going live on the Purdue Memorial Union Facebook Page and reading holiday books," Harris told us. "There are going to be a few faces from athletics, so we are going to have a few of them popping in and out."
