WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -- The Purdue University Senate could pass a resolution that would reaffirm Title Nine.
The Equity and Diversity committee is asking the full Senate to pass a statement of support for victims of sexual harassment or abuse. The resolution would reaffirm the Senate's strong position against harassment in all forms.

Dr. Mick La Lopa said he hopes it establishes a culture where victims feel safe to come forward, knowing they will be taken seriously.
"We need to communicate loud and clear to students that you are protected and we care about you and we want you to come forward. So, that's great that the Senate took this up," said La Lopa.
The Senate will vote on the resolution next month.
