WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)-Enrollment at Purdue University is at an all-time high. For the fall 2020 semester, nearly 9,000 freshmen have enrolled, that's nearly 1,000 more than the year before. Purdue President Mitch Daniels says the numbers exceeded their expectations.
"For the first time in history it's gone up in the last few days and weeks this is the time when it usually, as they say, melts downward. So clearly the interest in a Purdue education is stronger then it's ever been," said Daniels.
Daniels says around 90 percent of students are returning to campus. He says the majority of students taking classes online are international and can't come back to campus due to travel restrictions.
