WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The 9th Annual Purdue Boilermaker Half Marathon will not happen in person this fall. According to a press release, the event, which was scheduled for October 17 has now been changed to a virtual-only event.
“It is with sadness that I must announce that the ninth annual Purdue Boilermaker Half Marathon and 5K will go to virtual this fall," said event race director, Don Carr of Tuxedo Brothers event management. "The main reason being safety of participants, sponsors, volunteers and spectators.
People can still register for the virtual event by going to www.purduehalf.com. The event raises funds for the Purdue Athletes Life Success program (PALS) which provides summer camp programs for kids whose family incomes are at or below federal poverty guidelines.
"We do encourage people to enter virtually as they will receive a shirt, medal and will help raise funds for the PALS program at Purdue. Also, next year will be the 10th annual and we are excited that this event will be bigger and better than ever!" said Carr.
