LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Even though Purdue University has canceled all in-person classes for the rest of the semester, Boiler Basketball Center Matt Haarms is staying in Greater Lafayette.
If you're near the Five Points area you might find him out walking dogs.
Haarms has been volunteering at Natalie's Second Chance Dog Shelter as much as he can despite his basketball season coming to a quick end. The shelter said they've lost most of their volunteer base with the decision to move the rest of the semester online. They say having Haarms work out with the dogs is a big help.
Natalie's Second Chance is also accepting donations if you are unable to volunteer your time.
Dog food, treats and toys.
Harnesses, collars and lasso leashes.
Blankets and towels.
Large wire dog crates.
The shelter is open to volunteers Monday, Wednesday and Sunday from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. It's located at 10 South 16th Street in Lafayette. It's also open to volunteers on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Groups of three or more should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
