LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -- A local organization is receiving some monetary relief during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pride Lafayette was given a $500 donation Tuesday night from the Central Presbyterian Church.
The church congregation said it recognized Pride Lafayette's financial struggles and wanted to help.
Tuesday night at Pride Lafayette's meeting the Presbyterians surprised the board members with the money.
As we previously reported the non-profit canceled OUTFest which sets them back around $20,000.
Ryan Shelley said Pride Lafayette has a big outreach.
"It serves the entire area," said Shelley. "Clinton, Cass, Carroll and all the surrounding areas. Benton. It is something that this organization reaches out in many many ways that many people probably are not aware of."
Shelley, a member of the Central Presbyterian Church congregation, presented the check to the Pride Lafayette Board Members.
He said Pride Lafayette is vital to the community.
"This organization has come a long way and they have done leaps and bounds, not just for this community, but the LGBTQ community as well," said Shelley.
He said the church will do everything it can to help.
