LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — In a statement on social media, the group cites safety and precaution as their biggest concern.
In a Facebook post, the group wrote "we do not want to be a reason that a spike in covid would occur. We hope you all understand that this was not a decision that was made easily."
Dozens of people responded to the post voicing their support of Pride Lafayette's decision to cancel OUTfest.
The annual pride event aims at bring awareness to the LGBTQ+ community in the Greater Lafayette area.
The group say there will be some virtual events held later this year and they are looking forward to hosting OUTfest in 2021.
