WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)—Purdue University's Board of Trustees awarded a posthumous Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering to Trever Col.
You may remember Col died last year in a cave rappelling accident. Col was involved with Sigma Alpha Epsilon racing team and Purdue Outing Club.
A posthumous degree is awarded to deceased students who have completed 85% of their credit hour requirements.
Purdue trustee, JoAnn Brouillette, said it was the university's pleasure to honor one of their own.
"The Col family's loss was our loss and Trever will be forever a part of the Purdue family and Purdue for life," said Brouillette.
Col was 21-years-old.
