LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - More than six million dollars in upgrades are coming to Columbian Park's Memorial Island.
The Lafayette Board of Works gave the go ahead for work to begin Tuesday morning.
Work will increase the size of Memorial Island and upgrade the bridges.
The amphitheater will receive a new audio system and more shaded areas will be made.
Lafayette's Parks and Recreation Superintendent Claudine Laufman said this phase of the project will complete the multi-year project.
The lagoon will also be cleaned and paddle boats will return to the park.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in June of 2021.
