LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A suspect has been arrested and is in the hospital after a high-speed chase ending in downtown Lafayette.
According to Sgt. Blake Barker-Switzer of the Lafayette Police Department, the pursuit began as a routine traffic stop in Frankfort. The suspect drove off and a high-speed chase followed.
The suspect was traveling over 100 miles per hour when they entered Lafayette.
The chase ended after the suspect rear-ended a vehicle and crashed into a flower bed on the corner of Main and 6th Street. The suspect then fled on foot where he climbed on top of a building at 608 Columbia Street. They found access to an attic and hid from the police for some time. A K-9 unit from the Tippecanoe Sherrif's department and a drone were used in tracking the suspect.
When the suspect leaves the hospital he will be transported to the Clinton County jail by Frankfort police. There are no injuries aside from those to the suspect, which are non-life threatening.
