WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Day of Miracles has come to an end.

The 24-hour fundraising event for Purdue University Dance Marathon raised $154,260.36.

That's $40 thousand more than last year.

It was a preview of what's to come for the actual dance marathon in November.

The PUDM headquarters was in Purdue's Recreational Sports Center. It's where the miracles were made.

PUDM-ers described the event as energetic, meaning, electric and amazing.

One member even described it as family.

"It really is one big family on campus and these people that are in this room with me now are my best friends and they'll be my best friends forever, said the president of PUDM, Becca Anglen. "Our mission is basically to just raise as much money and awareness as we can for Riley Hospital. One of our Riley kids, she was just admitted for emergency surgery two weeks ago, so that was a really good continuing reminder of why what we do is important."

That Riley kid was inside the headquarters Thursday night, having the time of her life.

Addyson Wooldridge had her first surgery when she was 17 days old. Her parents told News-18 Thursday night that she is now in the clear, meaning she will just have routine checkups at Riley.

She  says she loves going to Riley and having fun.

Her favorite part of dance marathon is playing on the bounce houses.

"What all these kids are doing is great work and they don't have to do this, said Hope Wooldridge. "They volunteer their time to raise money for sometimes people they don't even know."

"They just love to socialize, interact with all of us and it's really awesome to see all the energy that they bring, said Anglen. "They are always smiling, always laughing and it's a really good motivator for us."

"FTK," said Addyson. "FTK! FTK!"

FTK is the saying that dance marathon preaches. It means for the kids.

It was an amazing day for Purdue Dance Marathon and Riley Hospital for Children as all that money will go toward pediatric cancer research.

PUDM is the largest contributor to pediatric cancer research in the state.

Next up for PUDM is the actual dance marathon.

That is November 10th and 11th.
