LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — One person has been arrested after a man was brought into a hospital for multiple stab wounds. Police say Wen Lin initially told investigators that the victim, Qingyu Lin, and himself were attacked by an unknown black male wearing dark-colored clothing outside of a restaurant in the 2600 block of Maple Point Dr.
However according to LPD, after the described crime scene was searched for evidence, hours of surveillance footage were reviewed, and multiple interviews and re-interviews were conducted, no physical evidence was located at the reported crime scene and there were several discrepancies in the statements provided.
Lafayette Police Department Detective Division arrested Wen Lin on preliminary charges of False Informing, Assisting a Criminal, and
Obstruction of Justice.
While the investigation is continuing, LPD is no longer looking for an unknown suspect and said this was not a random act of violence.
