One arrested after overnight shooting in Lafayette

Michelle Hopkins was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A Lafayette woman has been arrested after a weekend shooting. Michelle Hopkins, 39, fired multiple shot,s striking Christopher Jones, 41, once in the knee according to Lafayette police.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Saturday. Police were called to a home on South Street for domestic battery.

LPD Lt.Matt Gard said Jones’ injury is non-life threatening. Police are investigating the shooting as a domestic disturbance.

Hopkins was arrested on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Lafayette police are still investigating this situation.
