WHITE CO., Ind. (WLFI) — Detectives in White County are still trying to piece together what led to a fight at the Indiana Beach Campgrounds. Detectives said 8 people were detained and two were taken to a local hospital.
Those 8 people were taken in for questioning and are believed to be involved. They have since been released. 2 people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and were treated.
"The extent of the injuries wasn't what some of the reports said, that there were multiple injuries or severe injuries, thankfully that wasn't the situation," said Detective Erik Janke.
White County Sheriff's Department Detective Erik Janke said the fight happened late Sunday night into Monday.
"There was also reports or concerns that were made about multiple injuries maybe even multiple stab wombs or stabbing victims," said Janke.
Janke said there's no evidence proving anyone was hurt by a weapon.
"To families and anybody coming in we always encourage, the sheriff's department always encourages everybody to enjoy your time and enjoy your weekends, enjoy your summer but obviously understand that everything needs to be done responsibly."
News 18 did reach out to Indiana Beach for comment and have no heard back.
Detective Janke is asking anyone that witnessed the fight and has information to contact the department at 574-583-2251.
"The investigators are asking anybody in the community that may have witnessed it may even have cell phone video footage to contact us and come forward," said Janke.
Detective Janke said no charges have been filed. The case has been sent to the prosecutor's office, from there they'll decide if there will be any criminal charges.

Officers in White County are working to learn more about a situation that occurred early Monday morning.
It happened just after midnight at the Indiana Beach Campground.
First calls to 911 came in, reporting a large fight with possible weapons and injuries.
Multiple agencies responded, including the White County Sheriff's Department, Monticello Police, ISP, Carroll County Sheriff's Department, Monticello fire, and Monon Police.
Two people had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
At this time, officers are still working to learn more information.
No arrests have been made.
