Squall line spoke of low-topped severe storms pivoting around the low has brought a lot of wind damage from Mississippi to southern Indiana.  Trees & limbs & even home damage is being reported across multiple counties in southern Indiana & western Kentucky, where there was CAPE with temperatures as high as the lower 70s with dew points in the mid to upper 60s.

One gust near the Ohio River southeast of Evansville measured 66 mph on a Western Kentucky University mesonet anemometer.  Some of the minor home damage & tractor trailers & campers being toppled points to some near hurricane-force gusts (near 75 mph).

Widespread heavy rainfall with risk of isolated thunder will continue to pivot northward & we will see more in the way of just some scattered showers this evening & into part of tonight.

Temps are on the rise with 48-59 over the area.  Just noticed a 62 just south of Montgomery County.  We sit at 55 at West Lafayette.

Spurt of warmth will continue northward as it wraps around center of surface low.

With surface pressure drop to 990 mb & 5-7 mb drops over the next few hours over the area, band of strong gradient winds, mixed with a few showers will work in with time.

The showers will help to mix some of that wind momentum down to the surface, despite a lack of buoyancy.  With winds at 2500' at 60 mph & 70 mph at 5000', it wouldn't be hard to get 40-50 mph gusts with risk of a few +50 mph gusts.

At this point, it appears that +40 mph gusts will enter the viewing area by 8 p.m. in the south.  Highest gusts of 40-50 mph with isolated +50 mph gusts should pass through the viewing area in the 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. time frame from south to north.

These high winds will tend to be from the south, then turn to the southwest & west-southwest (rather than be from the east-northeast to east to east-southeast, like they have been all day, so far).

A few power outages & a few limbs & weakened, dying trees may come down.

Watch for slippery roads with wet pavement & all of the leaves!

Winds will diminish to gusts of 30 mph by 7 a.m. Sunday.

Temperatures will quickly fall from 56-63 to lows of 45-50 tonight.
