It was a chilly, breezy day with afternoon highs of only 45-50.

We are headed for 28-32 tonight.  Ice scraper & shades will be needed in the morning.

Most areas west of U.S. 231 dropped to 32 last Friday (as well as the Logansport-Cass County Airport).  The rest of the area will drop at or below freezing for the first time since late April tonight.

The earliest freeze on record at West Lafayette (1879-present) was set September 14, 1880.  The latest first freeze on record was November 13, 1946.

Normal first 32 is October 10-17 in the area.

The first 28 or less is October 22-30.

The first occurrence of 24 or less is November 4-11 in the viewing area.

After unusual warmth for the first 10 days of October, we have gone completely in the other direction.

We should see a continuation of the below normal temperature pattern until we near Halloween.  Things will begin to change at that point.  It will be especially noticeable post-Halloween.  I would not be surprised to see some record warmth night &/or day in November, specifically in the November 8-14 period.

The remnants of Tara will bring flooding rainfall to New Mexico to Texas this week.

Here, looks largely dry Tuesday-Friday with more 50s than anything with more frost & freezing.

Cold front will pass Friday night-Saturday morning with a few isolated showers.  A secondary cold front & upper trough will swing through Sunday morning-midday with a few isolated rain & snow showers & strong gusty winds to 32 mph from the northwest.  Skies may clear later in the day after gray weather morning-midday.

Still thinking temperature warming trend will occur as we get to Halloween.  Also, quite warm weather should dominate early to mid November.  We may see some record warmth at night & day.

Watch for potential severe weather event/outbreak as we near mid-November with big pattern change.  Severe risk may develop Michigan to Texas.

This pattern may dump heavy rainfall, too.  This will be followed by a BIG change toward, cold, wintry weather with some snow.

Here comes the cold after the mid point of November.  Temperature go below normal by up to 20 degrees.
