Updated: Oct 13, 2021 11:16 PM

Highs today reached 73-79 after 50-54 this morning with areas of fog.

A lull in the showers & storms will occur much of tonight (just a couple to few spits of showers, drizzle, sprinkles).

It will be an unseasonably warm night with temperatures actually rising from 64-68 to 66-71 with humid dew points of 64-67.  The record warm low temperature for the Greater Lafayette site is 65 set in 1899.  Forecasting 68.

Winds will run south-southeast to south at 15-30 mph.

A round of scattered showers & storms will pass 5-10 a.m. Thursday morning with 40-50% coverage.  The best coverage of 60-70% will be in Illinois, however.

An isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out west of a Covington to Otterbein to Monon line.

Lulling should occur late morning to midday with just an isolated shower or two with south-southwest winds 15-25 mph & temperatures warming to 70-75.

This is due to Effective Bulk Shear values in our western & northwestern areas up to 40 knots, up to 200 m2/s2 Effective Helicity, but ML CAPE will remain in the 250-500 J/kg range.

Some new scattered showers & storms will pass the area Thursday 2-6 p.m. with up to 45% coverage.

An isolated severe storm is possible along & south of a Peru to Lafayette to Covington.

Showers & storms Thursday night-Friday AM will be followed by lulling, then some showers & storms in the southeast & cool scattered rain elsewhere.

An isolated severe storm is possible southeast of a Covington to Frankfort to Greentown line.

Any threat would be on the table with that storm.

Total rainfall from Thursday morning to Friday evening will run 0.50-1" area-wide with potential of a couple to few isolated +1" amounts.
