NEWTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A Wednesday morning tool shed fire in Newton County is now under control after 23 firefighters spent around two hours fighting the blaze.
The fire was reported just before 7 a.m. at 8224 S 675 W in rural Washington Township near the Illinois state line.
Brook-Iroquois Township Volunteer firefighters and the Kentland Fire Department responded to the scene.
The Morocco and Donovan, Illinois fire departments were also called to assist due to weather conditions and the remote location of the fire.
The fire was believed to have been started by a faulty block heater on a tractor that was stored inside the shed.
Around $50,000 worth of damage was caused in the fire.
The Newton County Sheriff's Office and the Newton County EMS were also there to assist. No injuries were reported.
