Attica, IND. (WLFI) - What started as a collection hobby turned into so much more.

Pinball on Perry officially opened its doors to the public at its grand opening event.

"I was kind of collecting pinball machines and arcade games and I was starting to run out of space,” said arcade owner and operator Wade Harrison III. “I thought it would be fun to share my hobby with the community."

He’s hoping the arcade brings a new sense of fun that everyone can enjoy in the community, especially as the colder months approach.

“It's not exercise unfortunately but it is a lot of fun, it’s an alternate,” he said. “And this winter when it's colder and kids are staying inside and they are looking at playing games in their house by themselves, this gets you out.”

So when a storefront property became available on Perry Street in Attica, he jumped on the opportunity.

"Somebody said well hey the corner spot looks great, why don’t we see if we can hook you up with the owner and see if he'll fix it up,” he said. “And he did a great job."

The newly renovated space is bringing games of the past and the present under one roof.
Customers can enjoy skee ball or air hockey, Pac-Man or Robotron, and pinball machines ranging in themes from Monopoly to Buzz Lightyear.

In the age of technology where people can access all these games and more on their mobile device, Harrison said there is something unique about physically playing these games at an arcade.

“The real pinball machines feel different,” he said. “It’s all about timing and the ability to find the flow if the game.”

Games at the new arcade range in price from 25 cents to one dollar.

But Pinball on Perry is about much more than the money or the games. Harrison III said he has loved gaming since he was a child.

"My dad would take us to play if we went on vacation,” he reminisced. “He'd come in and play pinball and it was one of the few things that I recall him doing for a lot of fun."

And now he is passing this family tradition down to his kids. Meet his son: Wade Harrison IV. They share much more than just the same name.

“We just kind of talk back and forth and have little competitions on Pac-Man which is quality bonding time," said Harrison IV.
These competitions are helping dad stay on his gaming toes.

“He’s very good,” said Harrison III of his son. "It's been a fun challenge. It's given me a new thing to strive for to keep up with him."

While recreating nostalgia of the past, they are sharing that same family bonding experience with others.

"I've seen several families come in,” said Harrison III. “They're coming in and bringing their kids in and they show them, hey I used to play this, watch this."

"We have people come in and saying 'do you have Pac-Man? Oh my gosh this is my childhood,’" said Harrison IV.

The owner said they have had people come from as far away as Indianapolis and Terre Haute to test their high scores on the games at Pinball on Perry.
