TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—Tippecanoe County Commissioner Tom Murtaugh said construction on the county's new $1-million superior court is on pace.
During this past legislature session a new court room was authorized for Tippecanoe County due to the large number of cases in the county. The current auxiliary courtroom will be the new Superior 7.
The court room being constructed now which used to be the old prosecutors office will be a new Juvenile Magistrate Courtroom which will sit next to the current juvenile court.
"The court house is essentially shut down to the public except for emergency hearings so that has enabled us to speed up the project actually," said Murtaugh. "Because there's fewer public so we have more access to different areas to get this project going."
The court room is expected to be completed by the end of November and open by January of 2021.
