TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - People planning a wedding will soon have a new venue to choose from. New Journey Farms will be Tippecanoe County's newest wedding venue once complete.
The venue is being built by Robin and Mike Humphrey. They wanted to create a venue where possibilities aren't limited.
Sitting on more than 13 acres, New Journey Farms will be Tippecanoe County's newest wedding venue. With Tippecanoe County offering a variety of such venues, owners Robin and Mike Humphrey wanted to offer something different.
"We wanted an open canvas to where they can decorate it vintage, or they can decorate it shabby chic. It's just whatever they want to do once they come in here,” said Robin Humphrey.
The couple got the idea for the venue after attending a wedding.
"About four years ago we went to our niece's wedding. We were just looking around and thinking "this is exactly what Tippecanoe County needs",” said Robin Humphrey.
That idea was further enhanced after having to move their first daughter's wedding out of town.
"Although we had a great experience, it was just very disheartening when you look around and think, "We've got a community and county that can support something like this”,” said Robin Humphrey.
The Humphreys soon saw the idea quickly become a reality.
New Journey Farms is just minutes from Dayton on County Road 800 East. It will also be available for formals, meetings and various events.
Mike Humphrey believes the venue provides a small town feel without sacrificing Lafayette's amenities.
"Even though we're close to 65, you look around and even out here other than construction noise, you know, it's pretty quiet,” said Mike Humphrey.
Once doors finally open, Mike hopes the venue will help make any event a more memorable experience.
"We want people to be able to come to this facility and enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy what we have to offer,” said Mike Humphrey.
The venue will be open by early September.
