WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — You may notice more law enforcement around West Lafayette this week. The National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference is happening on Purdue's campus.
The week long event is for young people interested in criminal justice. They have the opportunity to undergo training exercises and practical experiences.
Purdue Police Captain Keene Red Elk said it gives young people the opportunity to understand major differences in departments.
"It's just a lot of fun for these youth who have this desire to be in police work to see what we do, to interact with the different agencies," said Red Elk.
The Conference draws nearly 2,100 people to campus.
