LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Nanshan announced it will be laying off more than three-dozen employees at its Lafayette plant. Spokesperson Rebecca Kroeger said it's a "ripple effect" of economic conditions prompted by the pandemic. She said Nanshan is indefinitely laying off 27 Nanshan employees and 14 temporary workers. The plant normally has 200 to 250 employees.
Kroeger said 85% of Nanshan's products go to the automotive industry and the company received confirmation in early April of an order that will supply parts for ventilators, but that's not enough to make up for decreases in other parts of the economy.
