LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Nanshan America will undergo a week-long shutdown at its Lafayette plant, according to spokesperson Rebecca Kroeger.
Beginning April 20, all associates will be furloughed for one week due to effects from the coronavirus pandemic.
Kroeger said no employees have tested positive, or been told they had contact with someone who has tested positive. She said the plant-wide shutdown is planned because the suppliers are unable to get materials and new orders have been slow.
"We're hoping this will be the reset we need," said Kroeger. "This will not be a long-term furlough, and we are excited to welcome everybody back on the 27th."
As we reported last week, Nanshan laid off more than three-dozen employees due to a ripple effect from the pandemic.
Nanshan America is an aluminum casting and extrusion facility of U.S. 52 in southern Tippecanoe County. It employs more than 180 associates. According to the company, 85% of Nanshan's products go to the automotive industry
