LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Mulhaupt's is moving out of downtown Lafayette for a location in the 500 block of Earl Avenue into the old M.A.I.L., Inc. building.
Mulhaupt's will be consolidating their operations into the one building.

To help with renovations, Mulhaupt's will be asking for a ten year tax abatement to help with the $5.1 million dollar cost. They'll also ask for a seven year abatement for $500,000 worth of equipment.
Five new positions will be added because of the move.
Lafayette Economic Development Director Dennis Carson believes Mulhaupt's is a historically significant business for the area.
"They've been in this community for a very, very long time," Carson said.
"They've been locally owned, they're headquartered here. They serve not just greater Lafayette but also markets all over the state and even some probably in the Midwest and such."
Mulhapt's will now wait for approval from the Lafayette city council. If approved, the project could take up to a year to complete.
