TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) -- A motorcyclist is in jail after leading police on a pursuit Friday evening.
It started in Lafayette just after 8:30 p.m. According to Indiana State Police, Trooper Corey Brown attempted to stop motorcyclist Joshua Dilden, 30, who was traveling 86 mph on Schuyler Ave. Police report Dilden failed to stop.
The pursuit went west on Sagamore Pkwy., reaching speeds of what officers report was well over the posted limit. Before entering the City of West Lafayette, ISP reports Dilden made multiple attempts to evade Trooper Brown, at one time traveling through an empty Walgreens parking lot, after turning north onto Salisbury St. That led the pursuit back onto Sagamore Pkwy., where police report Dilden turned west, and then made an immediate U-turn to go back east. The pursuit exited off Sagamore Pkwy. and onto Happy Hollow Rd.
After traveling down Happy Hollow Rd., Dilden turned south onto N. River Rd. and traveled approximately one mile before giving up near the intersection of State St. With the assistance of WLPD officers, Dilden was arrested and taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
He was booked on the following preliminary charges:
-Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
-Reckless Driving, Class B Misdemeanor
