CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) -- The Montgomery County coroner is in serious condition at an Indianapolis hospital following an accident.
52-year-old Darren Forman had to be airlifted Tuesday evening. City officials say the accident involved a vehicle on his property, but they were unable to provide further details.
Along with serving as coroner, Forman is a 20-year veteran of the Crawfordsville Fire Department, and a paramedic.
In 2019, he was award the Indiana Department of Homeland Security's "Paramedic Hero of the Year Award."
He was instrumental in establishing the county's "Project Swaddle," which helps women in high-risk pregancies.
He also recently stepped up as chief of the Coal Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
A group of Montgomery County firefighters and organizations are planning a fundraiser for Forman's medical care, but details are still in the works.
