LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Wednesday's message of hope was from Ashley Smith of Pride Lafayette.
Her message is below and the video is above.
"Greetings Greater Lafayette, thanks so much for having me tonight. I just wanted to reach out and say to our kids who are at home where maybe they are not in the best spaces for them to be themselves. I just want you to remember that Pride Lafayette is here for you and we want to you to try and find your brave space. We talk a lot about safe spaces, but sometimes we need to find our brave space where we can actually be ourselves. Whether it be sitting in a room reading a book and letting your mind wander or trying to chat with your friends online remember that even though you might not be in a house that is super supportive of LGBT people that there are people out there who are thinking of you and Pride Lafayette is one of them and I'm one of them. There are tons of people that are here for you and once this all passes things still might not be the best, but they will definitely be better than what they are now. So just continue to hold onto that hope and just remember to try and find your brave space because eventually you'll find your safe space and you can be yourself."
