McCutcheon tops Harrison on penalty kicks to capture sectional title

It felt like it would never end. After 18 rounds of penalty kicks a winner was crowned. The McCutcheon girls soccer team defeated Harrison in a wild Class 3A Harrison sectional title game Saturday night.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — It felt like it would never end.

After 18 rounds of penalty kicks a winner was crowned on Saturday night.

The McCutcheon girls soccer team defeated Harrison in a wild Class 3A Harrison sectional title game.

The Mavericks knocked off the defending sectional champion Raiders 11-10 in penalty kicks.

Shianne Switzer scored with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime.

These two teams are no strangers to thrilling finishes. McCutcheon beat Harrison in penalty kicks to win the NCC championship earlier in the season.

The Mavericks advance to the Class 3A Logansport Regional. They will face Homestead at noon on Saturday.
