LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — McCutcheon's Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn is taking his talents out west.
The sophomore announced Tuesday that he will attend Real Salt Lake City Basketball Academy in Utah. This is the inaugural season for Real Salt Lake's basketball program.
Gibbs-Lawhorn was expected to miss most of the Mavericks' 2020-21 season with a broken foot. His new program has a modified schedule, meaning that Gibbs-Lawhorn should return to the court mid-season.
As a freshman, Gibbs-Lawhorn averaged 21 points per game, and collected offers from Indiana and Purdue.
Gibbs-Lawhorn said that his goal is to play professional basketball, and attending a prep school like Real Salt Lake will take his game to the next level.
"My ultimate goal, at the end of the day, is to get to the NBA," said Gibbs-Lawhorn on Tuesday. "So I felt this move and this decision was the fastest way to get me to where I want to be."
