TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) -- Matt Sandy said the next candidate for Tippecanoe Superior 4 Judge needs to be efficient.
Sandy held his candidacy announcement Thursday afternoon in front of friends, family and donors.
The 56-year old Republican has more than 30 years of experience in civil and criminal law.
His father and his mentor, Carl, practiced law for more than 50 years.
Sandy said his experience will let him hit the ground running in what he called the high-volume, hybrid court.
He also called that court the front line for opioid and meth issues.
"When I say it is the front line on the meth and opioid issues, these aren't the dealers," said Sandy. "These are the users and the addicts. These are the people we can save. These are the people who can be productive."
Sandy is married with two kids.
He said if he gets elected he can't wait to make certain improvements to case management and the pre-trial diversion program.
