Tornado Watch is up for Jasper, Newton & Benton counties until 6 p.m.

Technically, there is a Tornado Watch up for Clinton & Howard, but the storms associated with that watch should stay south, southeast & east of the viewing area.

Area of concern is the line of storms in eastern Illinois moving east & northeastward quickly.

We are also watching for any renegade storms to pop ahead of it in the viewing area.

Heating is increasing, shear is increasing, as are dynamics, so SPC has upgraded northwestern areas to ENHANCED RISK of severe weather with SLIGHT RISK for the rest of the area.

A few severe gusts, isolated tornadoes, hail & brief flash flooding are possible with storms that developing & move through now to late afternoon.

High non-t'storm winds of 45-60 mph gusts at times will occur now to this evening.  Gusts may still reach 40-50 mph overnight as much colder air roars in.
