WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Marcel Atisso and Emma Stetler each made their college athletic commitments at Harrison High School Wednesday.
Atisso, a star running back on the Raider football team, will join the University of Indianapolis football program in the fall. Atisso was a key component in the Raider's success over the last several years, including the programs two straight sectional titles.
Atisso rushed for 1241 yards and scored 22 total touchdowns during his time at Harrison. The senior has experienced his fair share of ups and downs over the course of the last year. Atisso has undergone surgeries on his ACL and hamstring in recent months. That adversity is what's fueling him into his college career.
"I know I can do anything, I just have to put my mind to it and I am going to start at the bottom, going in as a freshman and everything," said Atisso.
"I just know if I put my nose down, my head down and keep working, I can do great things. It's my dream to play at the next level, and with everything that's happened, it's just great to have that opportunity to do what I have always wanted to do."
Stetler meanwhile tallied nearly 700 assists with the Raider volleyball program. Her choice to join Division 3 William Peace was part of a move that will provide her with a new start outside the Midwest.
"I am just really excited for just for like a whole fresh start," said Stetler.
"You know I love here, I love everything here, but I think a whole new environment is just like just so fun for me, and I am a really outgoing person, so I think getting out of my comfort zone is just the best thing for me."
