LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A Peru man is behind bars in the Tippecanoe County Jail, accused of a 2018 kidnapping that led to a rape.
Michael Pugh is charged with criminal confinement and kidnapping, among other things.
Prosecutors said in August 2018, Pugh and another man approached a woman outside her Lafayette apartment near 18th Street and Summertime Trail, and forced her at knifepoint to drive to the Walmart on Veterans Memorial Parkway. When they got there, Pugh got into another vehicle and left.
But the woman says the other man, Dustin Day, then pulled out a gun and forced her to drive to several locations as far away as Peru, Indiana. News 18 reported last October that Day was arrested in North Carolina and charged with kidnapping and rape in connection to this case.
The woman told police she was held against her will for 17 hours. Online records indicate he's scheduled for a jury trial on November 6th.
