FOUNTAIN/MONTGOMERY COUNTIES, Ind. (WLFI) — A multi-county police chase ended with a man allegedly fighting with officers trying to arrest him, and it all happened with a child in the vehicle.
It started around 10:50 p.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 74 in Fountain County.
Deputies there stopped a vehicle for traffic violations about two miles west of the State Road 25 exit. During the stop, two people got out and ran from the police.
The driver then sped off.
Police found the vehicle near U.S. 231 and U.S. 136 in Montgomery County. The driver ran over police stop sticks and crashed into parked cars.
Police say the driver, Wyatt William Hunt of Springville, Iowa, tried to run away.
Hunt resisted and officers had to use a taser to stop him. The 21-year-old was checked out a local hospital and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.
He faces multiple felony charges including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and criminal recklessness.
Hunt also faces a charge of criminal confinement due to 9-year-old child in the car.
