CASS COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—The Logansport/Cass County Airport received a $3,000 grant that will help fund future projects.
This will help fund their projects for the next decade and they are excited about it.
"It's important that we make sure that we're meeting the needs for the maximum growth of our community,” said Airport Manager Jill Van Horn.

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded over $2 million to seven Indiana Airports. The Logansport/Cass County Airport was one of them.
"There couldn't be a better opportunity for me, than right now, to acknowledge the grant that we received,” said Van Horn.
Van Horn said the airport applied for the grant through the Federal Aviation Administration in 2018. They were approved in 2019, a quick turnaround they weren't expecting.
"We were pleasantly surprised with the award and the time that it came,” said Van Horn.
The purpose of the grant is to help the airport move forward in current and upcoming projects like a new terminal building.
"In order to continue development for this airport it's important that we took the time to sit down and address the needs,” said Van Horn.
The last grant the airport received was in 2004. Since then they've completed nine projects. This current grant will help fund five more projects over the next ten years.
"We've been in where we have modernized and updated this airport and that's where our focus lies,” said Van Horn.
She said business coming into the airport will ultimately benefit the community's economy.
"Once they come into this airport they are also entering our community and they are spending dollars in hotels and restaurants."
