TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Greater Lafayette Commerce hosted the 2019 Golden Apple Awards, Tuesday.  For more than 32 years the event has honored educators in the community.

This year's ceremony was held at McCutcheon High School where five local teachers took home Golden Apple awards.

The nominees were chosen largely for their drive to spread knowledge in our community. Each winner was recognized in a personal video about their career and also had the chance to give a speech.

This year's winners are:

Cindy Aubuchon, McCutcheon High School
Tim Hayes, East Tipp Middle School
Marti Meyers, Wea Ridge Elementary School
Beth Rivas, Wea Ridge Middle School
Caren Walker, Klondike Middle School

News 18 will air the entire Golden Apple Awards show on WLFI in April.
