LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -- The Latino Center for Wellness and Education hosted its annual Christmas Party at Lafayette's Ivy Tech Saturday evening.

Community members gathered together to make crafts and learn more about one another.

Children made paper flowers and other household crafts with Imagination Station. Free health screens were also available for adults and
parents.

Jaqueline Albarenga-Flores is the President of the Latino Center for Wellness. She said events like these are important in shaping the future of children and their parents.

"Being able to be kind of a mentor for our community, being able to be a resource for them to come to and for us to be able to be like hey this is something you could use," said Albarenga-Flores.

The Latino Center for Wellness and Education plans to continue their holiday parties on into the future. Its goal is to prepare children and parents for their life ahead.
