LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette police will have their first ever foot pursuit -- the Foot Pursuit 5K, that is.

The race will take place on Saturday, April 21. There will be a 5K and 1-mile Fun Run. There will also be a SWAT pull-up challenge.

This event is the first of its kind ever hosted by the department. All proceeds will be donated to the Heartford House to help children in the community.

Specialist Ian O'Shields has organized the event. He said he hopes it's a time for the police department and the community to come together.

"I want tons of people from the community, people that don't really know a lot about the police and people that do know about the police. I want everybody to come together. Get out there, mingle and get to know each other," said O'Shields.
