LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Lafayette police are investigating a theft and shots fired call that may be connected. Police said the investigated started Thursday, but it involves incidents that began earlier in the week.
On Sunday, police said a man was hanging out in a group and planned to sell a gun to an acquaintance while there. Sgt. Mike Brown said the group started drinking, and at some point two other men came and stole the gun and ran. This incident was not reported to police at the time.
On Thursday, police were called to the 400 block of Lingle Avenue. A man who witnessed the alleged theft on Sunday called police to report the gun had been stolen. Sgt. Brown said the man was calling police days later because the place he was living had been shot at several times.
No arrests have been made. Police are now searching for whoever allegedly stole the gun and shot at the home.
