LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The City of Lafayette has announced a $17.3 million dollar investment in the downtown area.
The project, called The Ellsworth, will bring a five story mixed-use building to the southwest corner of 5th and South streets.
It will feature 97 loft apartments, a rooftop garden and dog park.
2,000 square feet of commercial space will be available on the first floor and 40 public parking spaces will also be made.
Mayor Tony Roswarski said the project features an inviting location.
"With so many things to do downtown, so many restaurant eating options and bars and entertainment. All that within walking distance," said Roswarski.
Roswarski added that the project will help further develop the city.
"We think this in another neat piece of that puzzle to help Lafayette continue to grow and also make downtown very vibrant," said Roswarski.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall.
