LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Lafayette YMCA is looking to expand as it celebrates one year at its Creasy Lane location.
Speakers at Wednesday's "birthday party" said the move has been a huge success. They now have 27,000 memberships. Lafayette YMCA President Paul Cramer said it was built with 19,000 memberships in mind.
The Y also has its eye on adding resources for even more community issues, like veterans and immigration. The resources already housed there, like Junior Achievement, are also looking to grow.
"I know that a lot of the partners here are continuing to look for growth and we may end up growing ourselves as well," said Vice Chair of the Junior Achievement Board Lucas Woody. "As our staff grows, as our volunteerism grows, we're always going to need additional resources."
Cramer says this location has already become the model for YMCA's nationwide. He said this Y was the first to bring together five community partners under one roof.
